Bio:

Dr. Oguzhan Batmaz earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kansas. His research interests include macroeconomics, international economics, and environmental economics, with publications in several respected peer-reviewed journals. His current research projects include Predicting Economic Recessions Using Economic Policy Uncertainty and Machine Learning Models, Economic Narratives and Market Expectations: Evidence from Federal Reserve Communication, and Structural Differences in Recession Forecasting: The Role of Economic Policy Uncertainty and Machine Learning Approaches.

Additionally, Dr. Batmaz has extensive teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and is strongly committed to student mentorship, particularly in macroeconomics, monetary economics, and international economics. He contributes to the academic profession by serving as a referee for several respected peer-reviewed journals. Outside of his academic work, Dr. Batmaz enjoys spending time with his family. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, hiking, and playing soccer.
