TEACH AND ADVOCATE FOR STUDENTS.
The Accelerated Online Pathway is designed for working adults, including those who may be working as a paraprofessional, as well as those preparing to enter the profession.
The Accelerated Special Education program at Â鶹´«Ã½¸ßÇå University offers students a deep knowledge base in teaching from a universal design stance and through an inclusive education lens. The curriculum is grounded in effective evidence-based instructional strategies for students who receive special education supports and services in public and private schools. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to teach students with disabilities, from Kindergarten to age 22.
Courses are offered in an 8-week accelerated format and delivered online in the evening. Most major courses require students to attend scheduled, live online class meetings at a specified evening time each week. This pathway is not self-paced; students must be available to participate in real-time instruction, discussion, and collaborative learning. This format is intentionally structured to provide ongoing support from instructors while fostering a strong learning community with peers. Live class meetings allow students to engage with faculty, receive feedback, and build professional connections with classmates.
Immerse yourself in learning to:
- teach students eligible for special education supports  (K through age 22) from a social justice perspective.
- build inclusive school communities for learners, together with families and colleagues.
- use effective communication and informed decision-making strategies.
- incorporate research-based teaching methods across academic disciplines.
- embed social-emotional learning within the core academic curriculum.
- engage in a discourse of possibility.
